Regency Franken-Patterning (Part 3)

Friends, the dress is done. It feels so wonderful to say that, and to be able to cross this one off the list.

So last week got left off with a bunch of fixes that I was *mostly* done with but not 100%. I finished attaching the skirt at the pleating section and whip stitching the applique on, and then fussed around with the hem. And fussed, and pinned, and hated it.

So I left that alone for a minute, and fussed with the neckline more. I made it a little more deep and slightly square, then made it a lot more square which is the final result. I forgot to take a picture of the middle stage, I was just caught up in the project, apologies.

I couldn't really make a firm decision on the hem so I ended up taking the edge and tacking it along the waist for more of a midi dress length which means I can get more day to day use out of it, but also if I want to wear it for an event at some point, I can let down the hem to wherever I want and be more historically accurate.

I went halfway with historical accuracy for the closures, going for a hook and bar at the waist, then hook and eyes up on the bodice and snaps below the waistline. With my added layer from the hemline being turned so far up I may be able to sneak a pocket in there, which of course, would be amazing because we all love pockets.

I am very pleased with how this turned out! It isn't exactly what I envisioned at first, but it fits perfectly and looks more flattering on my body type that what I originally had planned. Plus, I want to add this shape of back to 90% of my dresses, it looks incredible and is comfortable as well.  The applique details just highlight the shape so beautifully and I can't wait to wear this out into the world. I need to plan a garden party just so I can wear this dress!

I have plenty more projects on the way, some are underway currently to be revealed next week! Until then friends, it's back to the sewing room.
