Dark White is the New Grey (Part 1)
Friends, I read a story online a while back about a woman who brought her new boyfriend to a family dinner and they laughed that he called grey "dark white" but personally I loved it! It does make people shake their head at you, but it sticks!
So today I'm showing you my latest in progress make, a nice pewter "dark white" skirt. I've been wanting a long flannel skirt for winter, something very neutral that I can pair with just about anything and this was on sale for about 3$ a yard so perfect. I absolutely love the look of cartridge pleats and have never had a project where I actually needed them, until now! Yes they are slightly tedious, but so worth the trouble.
I took inspiration from this pattern as well as just searching cartridge pleat historical skirt. I like how the front section is different than the back pleated section.
I measured out points about a quarter of an inch away from each other on the selvage edge and strung some strong button hole thread and went for it.
This is 5 yards of cartridge pleats friends. It goes quick.
I haven't 100% decided how I want the front to lay but I have a good idea, and I have some non-crafty but labor intensive house projects going on too, so this wasn't completed this week, hopefully next week though! Until then friends, it's back to the sewing room.
