Witchy Knitting Storage Solutions
It's spooky season friends, so I have something crafty and witchy for you.
I will admit I have maximalist problem. Being a crafter, I have lots of many different things and anything that looks remotely useful gets thrown into an "organization" bin because you never know, you might need it. However there are some tools that you come to frequently because they so darn useful, and they just happen to be the oddest shapes.
Knitting items are this exactly friends. If you have ever seen a ball winder for instance, you will know exactly what I mean. Yarn swifts are similarly odd shaped, useful contraptions. I know I can go and buy a bag or swift case but most of them out there don't have my particular flair for the ridiculous, in muted colors as well. Friends, Spoonflower is the answer yet again.
I have already shown off my Garden Dress I made with some Spoonflower jersey knit, and I got some of their signature cotton in this spectacular witchy/apothecary fabric. Sometimes the colors don't come out quite like you see in on your monitor. This one came out even better! It's so detailed and spooky, I love it!
I started out with the yarn swift case. I looked at a bunch of them, and saw what I liked and didn't like and then measured my swift. I opted to make an interior pocket to house the swift key just so didn't clank up against the base. I added some piping details (a first for me!) and the straps. A long zipper later and I was ready to go!
My second case was for the ball winder and a couple more of the odds and ends that I find myself reaching for frequently but don't have a real "home". I made a basic box bag, from a tutorial I found forever and a half ago and have since used so many times for mostly makeup cases. I made a large interior pocket before the handle and zipper went in and now my winder, pin needles and lint remover all have a cute home!
I have just enough of this fabric left to eek out an envelope laptop case, and maybe one more smallish catch all case. Tbd friends.
I hope you all enjoy your spooky season, and especially with Halloween only a few days away! Be safe out there, and until next time friends, it's back to the sewing room.
